Support the PMC - Win a Z5i!!!

In less than three weeks someone will be the proud owner of a new Parlee Z5i. It could be you!!!!

With 2 1/2 weeks to go before PMC Weekend, the response to our Parlee Bicycle Fundraiser is picking up steam. For those of you who have purchased tickets, thanks so much for your participation and your support. If you haven't yet gotten in on the action, the time is now!!!!! Once again, here are the details on the exciting opportunity to own a brand, spankin' new Parlee Zsi Ultegra.

Parlee Cycles of Beverly http://www.parleecycles.com/intro/ and Grace Bicycles of Holliston http://gracebicycles.com/articles/about-us-pg55.htm have teamed up to benefit the Pan Mass Challenge by donating a Parlee Z5i with full Ultegra Gruppo to Team Kermit as a PMC fundraiser.

The Z5i frameset http://www.parleecycles.com/z5i-geometry, is priced at $4000 and is designed to accommodate both traditional shifting and electronic components. Included in the package is the complete build and pro fit by Roy Cervantes of Grace Bicycles. Selecting the appropriate frame size is part of the package. The personal, professional fit by Roy alone is a $550 value. And the value of the gruppo and the rest of the components? Well, you can see that this is a very high end ride!

"So, how do I get this incredible bike?" Team Kermit is holding a drawing to raise money for the PMC. The drawing will take place after PMC Weekend, Monday, August 5.

Here's what you do:

-Tickets are $25 ea. Purchase as many tickets as you like! There is a very modest reserve to cover some of the bike costs. Though I fully expect the reserve to be met, if it is not, all funds will be promptly returned to the participants.

-To purchase tickets send a check make out to Branfman/Team Kermit to my address; 43 Chinian Path, Newton, MA 02459. Include your full contact information.

-Ticket purchases will be accepted until August 5, 6PM Eastern time.

-The drawing will be held that evening and the winner announced to the public via email the next day. The winner will be contacted by email and phone.

-The process of frame size selection, custom fit, bicycle build, and final delivery will then be arranged. There are also options for upgrades in componentry which would be the responsibility of the winner.

So what are you waiting for? Purchase your tickets early and often. Please share this with your cycling friends and any other cycling lists that you may be a member of. With the limited community that this is being circulated through, your chances of winning are high! This is an opportunity to be riding a top-of-the-line, semi custom bicycle AND to help support a critical cause that we all have a connection to. Whether you are a PMCer or not, join in the excitement and think of the possibility of having this bike in your stable.

Introducing the PARLEE PF30 Ultra Torque Bottom Bracket!

We have begun shipping our in-house designed and built Press-Fit 30 bottom brackets for use with all Campagnolo Ultra Torque crank sets. Our cups have been specifically engineered for use on carbon fiber frames, however they work wonderfully on metal frames as well.

The cups feature a deeper engagement and enhanced rigidity versus the factory cups for years of silent, reliable performance.

The cups are sold as a set and include the wave washer and retention clip for the right side cup. The cups are compatible with the nylon sleeve (as pictured) that is included with all EPS drive systems so the cups work perfectly with both mechanical and electronic drive systems. Installation is done in the same manner as the factory cups, so no special tools are needed.

Like the other bottom brackets in our range for use with Shimano cranks, these are available for sale in our webstore, via our dealer network as well as through bicycle retailers worldwide. All complete PARLEE bicycles with Campagnolo drive systems will include these cups.

Fight cancer and WIN A PARLEE Z5!!!!

Fight cancer and WIN A PARLEE Z5!!!!

PARLEE Cycles is supporting the extraordinary fundraising efforts of Boston area teenager, Connor McNeill, for the 2012 Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) with an exciting raffle opportunity to win a brand new PARLEE Z5 road bike valued at over 5,000.00

Connor is working with PARLEE Cycles and his local PARLEE dealer, Belmont Wheelworks, to reach his personal fundraising goal of $10,000 by organizing a charity raffle supporting PMC. All proceeds from this raffle go to supporting the PMC.

Connor is a 7 year veteran of the Pan Mass Challenge. Each summer, since he was 11 years old he has raised thousands of dollars for the Jimmy Fund. This year, he will ride on August 5th as a 16 year in his eighth straight PMC.

PARLEE Cycles, Wheelworks and Connor have teamed to donate a legendary PARLEE Z5 bicycle. This beautiful bicycle features winners choice of SRAM Rival or Shimano 105 components and is valued at $5,000.00 and the raffle tickets are one ticket for $50, five for $200, and ten for $399.

Click the link (http://www.pmc.org/profile/CM0246) to donate directly or buy raffle tickets.

We are excited to be involved with this project! Support an awesome cause, an amazing event and have a chance to win a dream bike! What could be better!

About the PMC:

The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge is an annual bike-a-thon and a pioneer of the athletic fundraising industry that today raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country. The organization was founded in 1980 and has since raised $338 million for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund. The PMC is a model of fundraising efficiency. The PMC donates 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to the cause. In 2011, the PMC generated 60 percent of the Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue and it was Dana-Farber’s single largest contributor. Over 230,000 individual contributions were made to last year’s fundraising campaign. In 2012, PMC cyclists will ride with the goal of raising $36 million for Dana-Farber.

Press-Fit 30 to Shimano adapters now shipping!

We are now shipping our Press Fit 30 to Shimano Hollowtech II bottom bracket cups. These cups allow Shimano cranks to be run in any Press Fit 30 (46mm x 68mm) standard bicycle frame. Similar to the BB30 (42mm x68mm) adapters we released last year, these match the Shimano factory specification for bearing location, so they are very rigid and durable. Bearings and seals are by Enduro. These are available via our online store: http://www.parleecycles.com/store/ or through any of our dealers.

Announcing availibility of Internal Di2 wiring!

We are excited to announce that effective today, any PARLEE Z1, Z2, Z3, CX, Tour can be ordered with internal wiring for Shimano Di2. Along with the announcement of this (frequently asked for) feature we are also announcing the immediate availability of Press-Fit 30 (PF30) standard on the Z1, Z2, Z3, CX and Tour models. The larger 46mm, all carbon bottom bracket standard, released last year by SRAM has the widest range of support from crank set vendors and allows for the clean internal routing of the Di2 wiring. Campagnolo 46mm cups are now shipping and Shimano crank sets can be run using Wheels Manufacturing spacers with the SRAM bearings. It is our intention to release our own native Shimano cups as we did when we first launched BB30 on the Z5 range, but we do not have a date yet available.

FAQ:

Can I get English threaded bottom brackets still?
Yes, we continue to offer English as a no charge option on the Z1/2/3, CX and Tour models but internal wiring is not available with an English BB as there is simply not enough space for the cables to pass. Elect Press-Fit 30 (PF30) at time of order if internal Di2 wiring is desired or use the standard external cable kit with an English BB.

Is BB30 still available? Technically, yes, but we are recommending Press-Fit 30 as an enhanced version of BB30 on our custom bikes. Bearing installation and service is easier and ultimately the larger bore (46mm vs 42mm) is lighter as the bore removes the sleeve that we needed in our all carbon implementation of BB30 in the Z1/2/3, CX and Tour models.

Can my existing Z1/2/3, CX and Tour be retrofitted for internal Di2? At this time, no. We co-mold in specially designed composite reinforcements inside the tube sections where the Di2 wiring enters the frame. Any Z1/2/3, CX and Tour made prior to April 2011 is not specified with this and should not be retrofitted for internal Di2 wiring.

Is the external Di2 wiring package still available?
Yes, we are still offering the dedicated Di2 wiring package that we introduced last year. This can be specified at time of order. The custom battery mount introduced in 2010 is standard in both wiring packages.

What wiring harness do I need for this? Can the frame be pre-wired?
We have the complete specs on all the necessary harnesses and we can sell them as part of the frame kit, no problems. We can also pre-install the wiring harnesses as needed.

What cups do I need?
For SRAM, just order a SRAM Press-Fit 30 (PF30) Bottom Bracket, Stainless or Ceramic. For Campagnolo, order OS-Fit Cups 46mm. For Shimano order a SRAM Press-Fit 30 (PF30) Bottom Bracket and Wheels Manufacturing Press-Fit 30 to Shimano 24mm spacer kit. We will be stocking a limited number of all of these parts if there any any issues sourcing them.

What happened to not drilling holes? We still try to drill as few holes as possible for structural integrity. This has been one of the reasons why Parlee frames last so long. Durability is not an afterthought. Holes are OK if they are properly engineered for, which in the case of our internal Di2 wiring set up, they are. We use a specially designed composite backing plate that reinforces the areas where the cable passages are located to prevent any hidden damage. The cable passages are precisely located and cut using diamond tools which do not break the fibers the way normal drill bits can.

Do you offer internal wiring for mechanical (cable) systems? No, at this time we still prefer the ease of use and performance of externally routed (mechanical) cabling on our road bikes. We have spent a lot of time refining our carbon fiber/titanium cable stops and think that there are few parts that match their refinement, so we are not changing them at this time.

Is this offered on Z4, Z5 or Z5 SL?
At this time, no. These models are not able to be run with internal Di2. We do offer our custom carbon battery mount for clean, chain stay mounting of the battery which prevents any disruption to the main triangle water bottle cage mounts.

How about internal Di2 on the TT? Yes, we offer internal Di2 on both out custom and stock TT frame sets.

What is the cost? There is no additional charge at this time on the Z1,2,3, CX or Tour models for the Di2 internal package or PF 30 bottom bracket. Both are defined during the order process and specified in our CAD drafts.
